We are thrilled to invite you to join us for a breakfast talk by artist Nicole Wermers in conversation with art historian and curator Penelope Curtis at Herald St. Their conversation will cover various topics such as the relationship between public space and bodies, work and ethics of care, as well as the sculptures in her current exhibition P4aM2aRF!.

We will continue the morning visiting exhibitions such as Awed by Anna Jung Seo at Project Native Informant, Dinge Weltweit by Behrang Karimi at Maureen Paley and concluding at Rose Easton Gallery with a group exhibition, On the edge of fashion featuring new works by Arlette, Alfa Bransfield, Aaron Ford, Jonah Pontzer and Mary Stephenson.

Nicole Wermers creates sculptures, collages and installations which explore the appropriation of art and design within consumer culture. Her installation Infrastruktur, originally on view at Herald St in 2015, adopted the glossy aesthetics and materials of modernist design and high fashion, alluding to themes of lifestyle, class, consumption and control.

Penelope Curtis is a British art historian and curator. From 2015 to 2020 she was the Director of Lisbon's Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, and from 2010 to 2015 Director of Tate Britain. She is the author of several monographs on sculpture and has written widely at the invitation of contemporary artists.

Please RSVP to clemmie@contemporaryartsociety.org at your earliest convenience and by Friday 3 February. Spaces will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
