London-based artist Claire Hooper has been appointed to develop new works for the internal spaces at a private equity firm’s Mayfair offices.
Consultancy has managed and developed the firm’s growing contemporary art collection since 2013. It includes works from emerging and internationally acclaimed artists with a focus on materiality and abstraction. Claire’s work will involve painting internal staircase walls and supporting columns that span several floors of the firm’s building. Working with a spray gun and painting freehand, the artist will be applying acrylic and enamel paints directly onto the building surfaces.
This commission represents a departure for both artist and commissioner: Claire has never worked directly on rendered walls, while this is the first time the firm has commissioned site-specific work.
