Machiko Agano (1953)

Biography

Agano Machiko (b. Kobe, Hyogo, Japan 1953) studied at Kyoto University of Arts, Japan (1979) and became a Professor at Kyoto Seika University (1995). She won the  Kyoto Art and Culture Prize in 2006. She has exhbited in Japan and inetrnationally including:  Textural Space-Contemporary Japanese Textile Art, Brighton Museum, UK - tour 4 places in UK (2001); through the surface, Surrey Institute of Art & Design, UK  - tour 4 places in UK (2004); Confronting Tradition-Contemporary Art from Kyoto, Smith College Museum of Art, MA, USA (2005); 5th International Textile Triennial Exhibition, Belgium; Out There, Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, Norwich, UK (2005); ‘05 Kaunas Art Biennial/M. Zilinskas Art Gallery, Kaunas, Lithuania; revealed, Nottingham City Museums & Galleries (2005); Kyoto Art and Culture Prize Show / Chushin Oike Gallery, Kyoto (2007); 17th International Exhibition of Contemporary Textile, Belgium (2007); CULTEX, Gallery F15 , Norway (tour \4 places in Norway, UHK, Japan (2009);  Contemporary Textile Art, Koumimachi Contemporary Art Gallery, Nagano (2000);  Fiber Futures-Contemporary Japanese Fiber Art Exhibition, Japan Society, New York, USA & tour  San Francisco, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Spain, Portuguese, France (2011-2015); 24th International Exhibition of Contemporary Art, Como, Italy.
