Gothic Auction and Event
Tuesday 10 March 2009
Shunt Vaults, London Bridge, SE1
Entry strictly by ticket only
Gothic is the first of a number of special events in 2009 and 2010 to mark the Centenary of the Contemporary Art Society. Around 30 artists and galleries have very generously donated works celebrating the ‘gothic sensibility in contemporary art’, for a unique installation in the vast, atmospheric vaults next to London Bridge. Following a private view of the exhibition and a gothic banquet, the works will be sold by auction.
The donated works will be pre-viewed in a public exhibition at Sotheby’s New Bond Street, from 26 February – 4 March 2009.
In addition, we will be holding a special Members event at the Sotheby’s exhibition so that all Members have the opportunity to view the works that have been so kindly donated. Full details of this will be released in January.
