Join us for a two-day trip to Bristol to explore the curatorial networks, organisational structures and artists’ practise.
The day will include a visit to Bristol Museum and Art Gallery to meet Director Kate Brindley. She will give her insight in to the partnership that the Museum has with the Arnolfini as one of the five museums selected as part of the Art Fund International collecting scheme. The two days will include a number of studio visits with emerging and established artists including talks by Ruth Claxton and David Blandy who will be showing new work at Spike Island. Lunch at the CUBE Cinema with a tour by artist Heath Bunting, and meetings with Picture This Moving Image, Situations and Arnolfini.
On the night of the 25th we will be holding a networking dinner at Spike Island for subscribers to Professional Development, we will be joined by all those in Bristol who have hosted our visit and by curators and collectors based in the South West. Throughout the trip discussion will focus on the relationships and partnerships that thread their way through the city’s arts ecology.
From feedback we have found that the national events we programme offer the chance for curators to get an understanding of their own region or city’s ecology by exploring another’s structure as well as being a valuable opportunity to develop your curatorial networks and knowledge of artist practise within Bristol.
This event is for subsribers of the Professional Development Programme. For more information on how to join please contact LucyBayley@contemporaryartsociety.org
