20th February — 20th February 2010
Grundy Art Gallery, Queen Street, Blackpool FY1 1PX
Join curator Jonathan Allen for an exclusive tour of Magic Show, a group exhibition featuring artists who adopt the perception-shifting ploys of the theatrical magician within their work.
Magic Show also includes a major new commission by Berlin-based artist Sinta Werner who makes site-specific, perception-bending installations that work directly with the architecture of a space. Magic Show coincides with Showzam, a festival of circus, magic and new variety taking place in Blackpool.
Following the tour, members are invited to stay for ‘Heat the Streets’ (16.00 — 20.00), one of the highlights in the Showzam programme. Production company Walk the Plank, are planning a stunning parade through the streets of the town.
This is a North West Members event. For further details of this event and Contemporary Art Society North West Membership please contact Mark Doyle, Head of Collector Development, North West - mark@contemporaryartsociety.org
