Join us for a curator craft day in London, for Arts professionals to learn more about the most innovative craft practices in the UK today.
We will visit Cockpit Studios in Depford to visit contemporary studio potter Matthew Warner and Eleanor Lakelin, who uses a number of traditional, modern and self-created techniques to explore her fascination with the natural properties of wood.
We will then later visit Sugarhouse Studios in Bermondsey, a creative workspace run by Turner Prize-winning collective Assemble. Her we will meet Katie Spragg, who is part of the studio Collective Matter with Eva Masterman and Mary O’Malley. Katie will explain how they use clay and materials to explore cross-disciplinary practice and creative communication and learning.
The day will continue at the Wallace Collection visiting Artist in Residence Jacob van der Beugel, whose ceramic works range from large site-specific installations to smaller Still Life arrangements.
The tour will finish with an evening visit to the Collect 2019 from 18.30, the only gallery-presented art fair dedicated to modern craft and design.
