During our Reception, we will be announcing the winner of our Annual Award for Museums, commission to collect, which offers the generous sum of £60,000 to a museum to commission a new work for their collection.  The Reception also offers the opportunity for us to share with you some of the highlights of a truly exceptional twelve months, during which we have moved to a new home in Clerkenwell designed by award-winning architects, Carmody Groarke.

Launched in 2009, this is the fourth year of our Annual Award which aims to bring museums and collections into close working relationships with contemporary artists to create a significant new work for their collection and audiences.  The shortlist for 2012 has been selected by: Michelle Cotton, Senior Curator of Firstsite, Chris Hammond, Director of MOT International, Moira Jeffrey, writer and Toby Ziegler, artist.

The shortlist is as follows:

  • The Collection and Usher Gallery, Lincoln with artist Oliver Laric
  • Leeds Art Gallery in association with Henry Moore Institute, Leeds with artist Alice Channer
  • Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery with Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge with artist Juliette Blightman

We are honoured that the 2012 Award will be announced and presented by internationally acclaimed British artist, Jeremy Deller.

We are indebted to the Sfumato Foundation for their continuing support of our Annual Award.
