Leo has exhibited extensively, particularly in Europe, alongside curating exhibitions, creating public art works and collaborating with artists and organisations.

Solo exhibitions include the multi-channel video installation Labyrinth at Leeds City Gallery (2007-08).

Previously Leo was artist-in-residence on the volcanic island of Solund off the west coast of Norway (2005). Here he worked in relation to the landscape, specifically environmental concerns, public sculpture and the legacy of land art. In Autumn 2011 he will undertake a one year Artist in Residency at VARC, Northumberland where he will continue this theme.

For the continuing development of his mobile and light installation Rumpelstiltskin Leo is constructing musical instruments and embarking upon singing lessons to be able to experiment with recording 'folk songs' he has written in relation to this Volk-tale.

In 2004 he created a Commemorative Miners Banner whilst artist-in-residence in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, in association with Creative Partnerships and the NUM. This banner is now part of the National Mining Museums’ permanent collection.

Leo was co-founder of the studios and project space, CSKX Studios, London (1990-2001) and the Berlin project and gallery space, Pugh Pugh (2003-4). Leo was featured in Contemporary Art Society's ARTfutures 2008 held at Bloomberg SPACE, London and is represented by PayneShurvell Gallery, London. His work is held in numerous private and public collections.

Since 2001 Leo lives and works in London and Berlin.

"The exhibition by British Artist LEO at Kunspunkt, Berlin is marked by literary allusion and a self-conscious understatement which masks a complex set of internal relationships between the shows potentially disparate elements. Two French authors, Alain Robbe-Grillet and the Marquis de Sade, provide the intellectual framework for the work.

As totems of post-war existentialism and late enlightenment sexuality they are uncomfortably appropriate touchstones for a contemporary artist’s exposition of harmless. Not only because many viewers will be passingly familiar with the manner in which both authors explore and re-order social tensions through structures of individual experience. But also because they point us toward an understanding of ‘harm’ and ‘unarm’ as something other than antithetical. They speak of things we do, and do not want.
