Ruth Proctor (1980)

Biography

Ruth Proctor lives and works in London. Her work responds to the spaces and time she lives and works within. Taking inspiration from details in theatre, performance or her surrounding environment, she makes objects that continue to exist beyond the context that originally provided inspiration. Like the Impressionists, Proctor's work often explores the fleeting moment, something that lasts for a second, captured in time, whether as performance, temporary intervention or as a permanent artwork, her works create beauty in a world where nothing lasts forever.

Ruth has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally. Recent public projects include Instructions for an Ordinary Utopia, Foreground Projects, Somerset (2014), I See You Liking Everything, Bold Tendencies, London (2013), and If the Sky Falls, Whitechapel Gallery, London (2012). Her solo exhibitions include Norma Mangione Gallery Turin (2014), Siobhan Davies Dance Studio, London (2013) and Hollybush Gardens, London (2010).
