The Contemporary Art Society enjoyed another triumphant evening on 10 March 2010 with more than 360 VIP guests for our annual fundraiser - entitled Systems - which was held in the spectacular core of one of London's most recognisable landmarks, the Battersea Power Station.
The evening was a huge success raising a gross profit of £240,000 which will enable the Contemporary Art Society to continue to buy significant new works for public collections in the UK where they will be enjoyed by audiences of millions.
The evening showcased newly commissioned and generously donated work in response to the idea of Systems by a range of high profile and acclaimed artists like Michael Craig Martin, Jim Lambie and Keith Tyson, through to a younger generation of artists garnering national and international attention.
Over the past century, the Contemporary Art Society has established an unrivalled track record of identifying the artists of tomorrow and purchasing 'ahead of the curve' for public collections. Our annual fundraising auction offers a unique opportunity to purchase works by artists who are attracting international critical acclaim but are not yet known beyond art world insiders.
