CAS acquires sculptures by Steven Claydon, Michael Dean and Magali Reus for The Hepworth Wakefield in a special partnership with the Henry Moore Foundation, supported by Cathy Wills
The four-year scheme supports Yorkshire as the UK centre of sculpture, with The Hepworth Wakefield and Leeds Art Gallery receiving major work by living artists each year.
The CAS helps acquire a candid portrait of a girl by Chantal Joffe for the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens
Joffe creates disarmingly raw portraits, almost always depicting women and girls, and this work will join a collection particularly concerned with paintings of emotional effect and artists looking at transitions and identity.
